Blocks#

What are Blocks?#

Blocks are what make up the geometry of your game. When placed in a Room, they can either be a full cube or a slope. Slopes allow for Players to have vertical movement through the Rooms. Blocks and slopes can be rotated in one of four directions. Blocks use either an individual Sprite, or a series of Sprites for animation. Blocks can also be solid, like a wall, so the Player can’t move through them.

Blocks and Slopes#

All Blocks can also be placed as slopes. When placing Blocks (whether as a slope or not), use the R key to rotate the Block. Slopes allow the Player to move up or down through your Room. They can also be used as interesting decoration for whatever you build.

Block Editor#

The Block Editor allows you to edit all the Blocks in your game. To edit a Block, just click on it from the Blocks tab.

You can change the name of the Block.

CAREFUL! Don’t get Blocks confused with Sprites that have the same name!

It’s easy to get the names of Blocks confused up with the names of Sprites! For example, you might have a Sprite called grass and a Block called grass. It’s important to remember that they are two different things!

The sprites for the Block will play in a loop, one after another. A new Block will always use the first Sprite in your Sprites list.

You can make a Block prevent the Player from walking through it by turning it into a Wall. When it says “Wall”, the Player can’t walk through it. When it says “Not a Wall”, the Player can walk through it.
