Action - Say Something#

This Action will pop up a dialog box. Any text you put in here will play out character by character. Hitting any key while the text is playing out will automatically skip ahead to show all the text at once. Hitting any key once all the text is shown will dismiss the dialog box.

Showing Sprites#

If you want to have a particular Sprite show up inside the dialog, simply surround the name of the Sprite with curly braces. For example, if you have a coin Sprite, and you want it to show up in the dialog, you’d write {coin} Ooh, shiny! and the {coin} would get replaced by the coin Sprite.

TIP: Use a Sprite when a Thing is talking!
If you make a Thing say something, it can be handy to put the Sprite for that Thing at the beginning of its dialog. For example, {froggy} Thanks for the coin! This can make it easier to tell who is talking.

Showing Item Counts#

If you want to have the dialog show the value of any Item, simply surround the name of the Item with square brackets. For example, if you have a coin Item and you want to display how many coins the Player has picked up, you’d write You have [coin] coins! and the [coin] would get replaced by the number of coins the Player had picked up so far.
